Colleen Longs MS Liberation Treatment Fundraiser

Description:
On August 12, 1995 Colleen and Trevor began their married life. With dreams of being teachers for a few years and then having their own children they went off into their future. Instead, shortly after, Colleen began to notice some difficulty walking. As these difficulties became more pronounced together they began to pursue a diagnosis.

On August 12, 1999, just 4 years after they were married, Colleen was given a possible diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, which was confirmed when shortly after she lost vision in her right eye for a few weeks, optic neuritis.

Since that time Colleen has become more and more disabled moving from a cane to a walker to the wheelchair. For the past 7 years she has relied on the wheelchair to allow her to continue to teach and work alongside her faithful husband as administrators of a small Christian school in Kitchener. Her status with the M.S. is secondary progressive which means a steady decline until an early death. There is no medical help for this stage of M.S., only drugs to assist with the symptoms that develop.

When Colleen and Trevor heard of the new development now called the Liberation Treatment, they finally saw a spark of hope for getting this disease stopped and possibly regain some of the independence that has been lost. So they began to research and sign up for any studies or opportunities to get this surgery done. It is an angioplasty of the veins in the neck and or chest. At this time Canada is not allowing for M.S. sufferers to receive the surgery so the Longs like many are looking outside of the country.

Discovering Liberation Gateway was helping M.S. patients they began to research this company. As a result they have decided that it is their best option for getting the surgery done, in a timely manner, as time is of the essence with the way the M.S. is wreaking havoc on Colleen's body.

Having both worked in a not for profit organization for the past 15 years, coming up with the required money to get to India, get the surgery and other incidentals that arise, the Long's are asking for your help to raise the money to do this. The approximate cost will be about $20,000 CDN. Please consider how you can help Colleen get to India and receive this potentially lifesaving surgery.
